Hnífsdalur cottage is located in a small village with the same name, standing right by the sea with only the coast road separating it from the sea. The view is splendid on the fjord Ísafjarðardjúp, right in between the small towns of Bolungarvík and Ísafjörður, the capital of the Westfjords. These towns offer cultural and tourism attractions, like museums, handcraft, guided day tours and local swimming pools.

This two-bedroom house has a lovely sailor decorated living room, a separate kitchen with a dishwasher. Bathroom: WC/bathtub, and washing facilities with both a washing machine and a dryer. On the ground floor you will find the bathroom, laundry, entrance hall and the three-person bedroom, the other rooms are upstairs, bit steep stairs but can also be accessed from the outside.

The garden has a table and chairs in one of its corners. Parking space is in front of the house.

Ísafjörður is the largest town in the Westfjords and is the capital of the region with a population of ca 2.600 inhabitants. Beautiful fjord and steep mountains surround it. The area offers various opportunities for hikers and natural sightseeings.

The old center of Ísafjörður has wooden houses with corrugated tin roofs built by fishing merchants in the 18th and 19th century. The Westfjords Heritage Museum shows an exhibition about the town’s maritime history, including a collection of old fishing boats. The old hospital, now a cultural center, contains archives and photography. There are supermarkets, restaurants, shops and a public swimming pool.

The Westfjords are know for their dramatic landscapes, remoteness and wildness. Expect many long and winding roads, fjords, waterfalls and mountains. It is a hiker's paradise.
