This little red cabin might seem small at first but has everything you may need for a perfect romantic stay in Iceland.
Located in Hvalfjörður, just north of Reykjavik, Stekkjarholt is an excellent location for day tours both in South - and West Iceland. This old romantic house was build in 1906 and renovated and maintained by the owners. It is especially suited for hiking lovers as it is not far to Glymur, the highest waterfall in Iceland. The surrounding area offers many long and short hiking trails. Also, it is only a short drive to the towns of Akranes and Borgarnes with restaurants, gas station and swimming pool.
The two-bedroom cottage sleeps max three people. It has a small open kitchen with excellent facilities, a dishwasher and a microwave. The adjoining living room has radio/TV, and the bathroom is with WC/shower. The small terrace offers a lovely view over the fjord.
Parking is close to the house.

Akranes is the closest town with all services that might be required. In Akranes we totally recommend Guðlaug, a hot pool right at the beach front, frequently used by sea swimmers. The view from "the pool of the goddess" is breathtaking.
Beautiful drives can be taken into Hvalfjörður fjord, and the farm Bjarteyjarsandur is worth a visit, simply for the animals or to have a nice lunch. You can walk to the beach. At the bottom of the Fjord you find the highest waterfall of Iceland, Glymur, 94 meters high. If you are in good shape, a hike up to its origin is totally worth it. In August, you will find places Hvalfjörður full of blue and black berries.

»It was a nice, cosy house. Only its was quite warm in the house, also at night. Further there are nice surroundings You are not to far from several outdoor things and shops.«
