From the terrace you can enjoy the view and the often stunning sunrise and or sunset while enjoying a coffee or a nice BBQ meal from the gas grill. Of course there is also a hot pot that you definitely have to try. Conveniently there is a parking place in front of the house.

Fljótshlíð is the home of the Iceland Saga characters, Njáll and Gunnar, two rivalling Vikings. The village of Hvolsvöllur, along road nr. 1, has a gas station, a coffee house and a small supermarket, as well as a swimming pool. You can also find the Lava Center and the Saga Center with its unique Njáls Saga exhibition in Hvolsvöllur that tells the story of the vikings.
There is also Gljúfrabúi waterfall in the area. This is a lovely smaller waterfall hidden in a small gorge.
