Lerkilundur is a cozy house in South Iceland near Lake Þingvallavatn and the famous Þingvellir National Park.

This comfortable two bedroom home is lovely decorated and offers you the perfect Icelandic experience. In the well-equipped kitchen you will find a small dishwasher and a microwave as well as a high chair for children. The inviting living room has a TV/DVD and free WIFI. The bathroom is equipped with a toilet / shower and a washing machine.

You will love the hot pot and the outdoor shower on the terrace. There is also a garden table and chairs as well as a gas BBQ. Enjoy the beautiful Icelandic nature. Parking is in front of the house.

Lake Þingvallavatn is within walking distance. Nearby is the beautiful National Park Þingvellir (Thingvellir). Its historic site is known for the Alþing (Althing), the site of Iceland's first parliament from the 10th to 18th century. The park sits in a rift valley caused by the separation of 2 tectonic plates, with rocky cliffs and fissures like the huge Almannagjá fault. There are a lot of hiking trails in the area.

The village of Laugarvatn is ca 30 km drive away. Laugarvatn is situated in the area Árnessýsla, along the shore of the shallow lake Laugarvatn. The small community with ca 200 inhabitants was originally formed around the boarding school there. Nowadays it is now best known for being a detour on the Golden Circle. Here you can find all basic services like a small grocery store, restaurant, gas station, swimming pool, sauna, horse rental and a golf course. The shores of the lake have several geothermal hot springs. You can also hire a boat and go on the lake. All in all, an excellent location for day tours to Iceland's top attractions like Þingvellir national park, Geysir, Gullfoss and Skálholt bishop seat.

»Best house we had this holiday. Spacious, great couch and chair and good beds. The playground for the kids with a swing and trampoline was great as were the toys provided. The house is well kept up and has a smart tv. The bedroom had a tv with dvd player. Kitchen had everything we needed, throug it could use an extra frying pan. Also Some extra cleaning supplies would be good, was glad we had Some with us. The hot tub and outdoor showen are great. House feels like the owners love it and they take good care of it.«
